Because the company notes in a press launch, "The wavemaker moon, Daphnis, is featured on this view, taken as NASA's Cassini spacecraft made certainly one of its ring-grazing passes over the outer edges of Saturn's rings on Jan. 16, 2017. That is the closest view of the small moon obtained but."
The moon orbits inside a spot known as Keeler Hole which is 26 miles broad.
NASA explains, "The little moon's gravity raises waves within the edges of the hole in each the horizontal and vertical instructions. Cassini was in a position to observe the vertical constructions in 2009, across the time of Saturn's equinox."
